book to alter…

I found this book at the market to alter.  It was falling apart on the spine, but adding some masking tape soon fixed that.   And also I was able to get it cheaper than the price the seller had it marked.

It has wonderful thick pages, just great for gesso and adding paint.

After spending some time taping it so all the pages were secure.  I started drawing and painting.

the mist cleared but the day remained cloudy and dull, with only patches of sunshine.

back and hoping to blog more!!

_DSC0351The Beautiful Faces book by Jane Davenport, was a gift I received at Christmas.  And she also has an online class by the same name, which I am taking.  The class works through the exercises in the book, showing shading and techniques to draw and paint faces.  It’s lots of fun.

_DSC0350This is a drawing I did from one of her lessons.  I did not have all the same art supplies so I had to improvise with what I have.

I have also been taking Kelly Kilmer”s, Making my Mark monthly collage art journal class.  Somewhere along the way I hope to develop a style of art journaling of my own.

With Easter almost here, the last few months have flown by, I so wanted to achieve much more than I have.  I wanted to blog far more than I have done, and filled an art journal.  I still struggle with finding meaning to my pages, maybe that just takes time.

Happy New Year…2015!!

Hello 2015…looking forward to what it will bring…lots of happiness/joy I hope!

I was undecided if I wanted to commit to Lifebook 2015, as there has been so many pages in last year

that i just didn’t get to watch or do…

Now I have joined… and looking forward to the first lesson of the year…

with intentions to watch and do each lesson this year!!!

My creative wishes for the year is to spend more time being just that…more creative.

Spend more time daily art journaling and finding more meaning expressed in my pages.

****

I haven’t spent a lot of time drawing and painting through December.   We went to Canberra for our nieces wedding in the first couple of weeks of December, with a few days exploring NSW and the south coast of NSW.  And it was a great holiday.  Than when we got home it was all about getting organised for Christmas.  Our youngest son was home for a week over Christmas…which was wonderful to have him home or a few days.

Now things are returning to our usual routine…

new fountain pen…

mail arrived today with this fountain pen I bought off Jane at the Institute of Cute.

And on the wall across the road from the art shop was this graffiti style mural…

it wasn’t there last time we were down there.

The art shop is in the industrial estate so there are big cement walls for a canvas…
